Wrist overexertion is no joke and can lead to pain, discomfort, and serious injuries. A lot of people who work at a desk all day may experience overexertion in the wrist from excessive typing or mouse use. To avoid this, below are some exercise tools you can use to relax your wrists:
CanDo® Pronation/Supination Wrist Exercise Wheel
The CanDo® Pronation/Supination Wrist Exercise Wheel is a therapy aid that exercises muscles in the wrists, forearms, and shoulders. To begin your pronation/supination exercise place your forearm on a table and grab the handlebar in the middle of the wheel. Making sure you knuckles are on top, slowly roll the wheel toward your opposite shoulder for pronation. Hold this position briefly before returning to the starting position. Then, slowly roll the wheel away from your opposite shoulder for supination. Hold this position briefly before returning to the starting position. Do this full motion a couple of times until you feel a nice burning sensation in your wrist and forearm. This exercise can help release tension in your wrists that can lead to wrist overexertion.
CanDo® Wrist/Forearm Exerciser
The CanDo® Wrist/Forearm Exerciser allows the practice of functional movements to help your wrists and forearms. While this exercise tool can be used for pronation/supination exercises with the handle and ball, the exercise we outline here focuses on flexion and extension. To begin, place your forearm on a table and grab the rod of the CanDo® Wrist/Forearm Exerciser with the semi-sphere on the table. Then twist your wrist counterclockwise for a flexion movement and then clockwise for an extension movement. Do this full motion a couple of times until you feel a nice burning sensation in your wrist and forearm. Practicing this exercise can combat the harmful effects of wrist overexertion.
It is important to note, that these exercises are used to make your muscles and joints healthier and not a cure if you are experiencing wrist pain. For severe symptoms of wrist pain, please contact your medical professional.
