Cognitive Testing

The new Second Edition of Version 5 of the Allen Cognitive Level Screen is available in a spiral-bound version. The ACL Screen is a theory, performance and evidence-based assessment associated with the Cognitive Disabilities Model (CDM). It is for use with people with known or suspected cognitive impairments that may impact safe and successful performance of everyday activities. The Screen provides a quick estimate of global functional cognitive capacity, including learning potential, and functional performance abilities that require that capacity. This estimate is inferred from observation of a person using the administrator's verbal and demonstrated directions to problem-solve, learn, and complete three visuospatial-motor stitching tasks of increasing cognitive complexity. Screen scores are criterion-referenced to the Allen Cognitive Scale of Levels and Modes of Performance and should be verified with additional functional cognitive assessments as part of a comprehensive evaluation. The ACL Screen is available in three forms: the standard Allen Cognitive Level Screen (ACLS-5) for general use, the Large Allen Cognitive Level Screen (LACLS-5) for persons with vision or hand function problems, and the Disposable LACLS (LACLS[D]-5) for persons with whom infection control is required. The Screen is untimed and takes approximately 15-30 minutes to administer.

Most recently updated and revised version of manual for administering both ACLS and LACLS is guided by the Standards for Educational and Psychological Testing (AERA, 1999). New sections include: definition of "functional cognition," history of the cognitive disabilities model, set up of the tools with photos, color-coded administration instructions, revised scoring tables, assigning and interpreting scores, review of published research, and four Appendixes with references and resources for practitioners. Spiral bound notebook comes with a handy, clear plastic pouch to hold the included ACLS and LACLS tools. Additionally, Perma Lok needles feature a revolutionary, vice-like grip that ensures lacing won't slip out. While not a timed test, these needles allow for stronger, speedier lacing for the ACLS.

Used to score test results, this tool is a pocket-sized companion to the Allen Cognitive Level Screen (ACLS) and Large Allen Cognitive Level Screen (LACLS) tools. This trifold features the scoring tables from the Allen Cognitive Level Screen–5 Manual. Folded up, it measures 4.75" x 8.5", making it easy to take from assessment to assessment. Because it's wipeable, it's reusable and good for the environment. Despite being foldable, the scoring table is sturdy enough for multi-use environments such as clinics. The chart is in English only.

Four sets of the large size version of the Allen Cognitive Level Screen (ACLS) test, also referred to as the leather lacing tool test. Used to quickly measures global cognitive processing capacities, learning potential, and performance abilities. Individual items are disposable for use where strict infection control procedures are required. The large size has been designed and is ideal for those individuals with vision or hand function problems. As such, needles are not included with this set nor are they required to administer the test. Enough disposable materials for four screenings is included in each package: 4 disposable chipboard forms, 4 pre-cut shoelace lengths, 4 pieces of 60" lacing to be cut in half for use with each tool, set up instructions unique to the tool, and contact information to participate in a feedback survey. The test is also valuable for detecting unrecognized or suspected problems related to functional cognition. Please note: the leather lacing in this product contains natural rubber Latex.
