Caffeine

Do you know caffeine is the most commonly used natural stimulant in the world? Everyday billions of people around the world rely on caffeine to help them get through the day. Whether that be waking up in the morning with a cup of coffee or getting that caffeine kick to push through the afternoon or night shift. However, you may wonder if all this caffeine is actually good for you.

To answer this question, you first need to know the history of caffeine and how it works. It all started way back in 2737 B.C when people first started brewing tea. Coffee was then discovered in Ethiopia many years later, followed by caffeinated soft drinks and energy drinks in the late 1800s. Today, 80% of the world’s entire population consumes caffeine each day. As mentioned previously, caffeine is a natural stimulant that is found in a lot of the products you consume. You can find it in energy drinks, tea, coffee, and cacao plants. Once consumed, caffeine works by stimulating your brain and central nervous system to help you stay alert and prevent you from becoming tired.

When it comes to caffeine, people tend to talk about how it can negatively impact your sleep or anxiety. However, there are a lot of studies that reveal various health benefits provided by caffeine. This stimulant has been shown to improve mood and brain function, boost metabolism, burn fat, enhance exercise performance, and protect against heart disease and diabetes. Coffee, in particular, can prolong life by helping prevent several diseases. It also promotes a healthy liver, skin, and digestive tract. So even though there are some negative side effects to caffeine, such as restlessness, there are a lot more benefits that come with caffeine consumption.

The bottom line is that caffeine is generally considered safe and is not as unhealthy as it once was believed. Although it can be addicting and cause sleeplessness, there are ways to avoid that. By consuming caffeine in moderation and not consuming it late at night you will be able to avoid most negative side effects. As always, please consult your doctor on how to enjoyably consume caffeine.
