How to Walk off That Thanksgiving Feast

Thanksgiving is almost here, and it is time to break out the sweatpants. Not just to loosen up the waist area but also to go for a walk afterwards. But the burning question is how far will you need to walk to burn off your Thanksgiving feast?

Most people know going into Thanksgiving that you are going to gain some extra ponds that day – but what if you do not have to? By simply going for a walk by yourself or with others you can burn off those calories you just gained. With most people spending Thanksgiving with a small group this year, it does not hurt to get them involved as well. Also, with most gyms only open for a certain amount of people going for a walk outside might be your only option to exercise.

The average Thanksgiving dinner can easily total 3,000 calories and add on top of that add another 1,500 calories when you include drinks and snacks. So, it is important to make a walking plan to see how far you will need to walk and what route you are willing to take. Once you have a plan of where you want to go for a walk you have to find a time to go. This time may be during meal prep when you have some time in between cooking or later in the day after everything is devoured. Find an interval where you can break away and go for a stroll around the neighborhood or a local park.

Thanksgiving is a great time to treat yourself and eat what you want, however you should not feel ashamed after how much you ate. All you need to do is plan on going for a walk and calculate how many calories you need to burn.
