Exercises for Weight Loss

Exercise is a key factor in losing weight. It helps get your heart rate up and allows you to burn calories. Any exercise can do this but there are certain exercises that are better for weight loss. Here are some exercises we recommend to help you meet your weight loss goals:

Dumbbell Squat

Dumbbell squats are a great strength training exercise that not only build muscle in your legs but help build your heart rate up as well. To begin, grab a pair of CanDo® Dumbbells with a weight that you are comfortable with using. Take dumbbells in both arms and rest them straight into the front part of your shoulders. If you are more of a beginner than just leave the dumbbells at your sides. Then do a squat as if you are going to sit in a chair by pressing your butt back and lowering your body with your chest forward. Next, drive that weight back up to standing position by pressing through your heels, engaging your glutes and hamstrings. Do this 10 times or as much as you can to complete the set.

Medicine Ball Wood Chop

Another strength training exercise that you may like is the medicine ball wood chop. This is a fun and unique exercise that utilizes the motion of chopping wood to engage muscles in your back, shoulders, and legs. To begin, select a CanDo® Dual Handle Medicine Ball with a weight that you are comfortable with using. Hold the CanDo® Dual Handle Medicine Ball with both hands and stand with feet shoulder-width apart, with your knees slightly bent. Then, slightly drop your body down by moving the ball to your right knee. Next, drive up through your feet by swinging the ball up and across your body. Swing the medicine ball back down again to complete the rep. Do this 10 times or as much as you can to complete the set.

Burpee to Bicep Curls

For more of a full body workout, the burpee to bicep curls might be the way to go. This exercise gives you the intense workout you crave while adding a little extra challenge to help build those biceps. To begin, grab a pair of CanDo® Dumbbells with a weight that you are comfortable with using. Then, get into a plank position with a dumbbell under each hand. Make sure your shoulders are directly over your wrists and your feet shoulder-width apart. Then, have both feet in between your hands and plant your heels. Jump to a standing position, bringing the dumbbells with you and then do a bicep curl. Place the dumbbells back onto the floor and kick your legs back out to return to starting position. Do this 15 times or as much as you can to complete the set.

With a combination of these workouts, some cardio, and a good diet you will be losing weight in no time.
