Physical Therapists (PTs) have an arsenal of products and equipment to help their patients recover from their injuries. Using TheraPutty® for Hand RehabilitationWhen it comes to hand therapy there are several different products to use depending on the type of hand injury. One product that can be used for a wide range of hand rehabilitation exercises is TheraPutty® hand exercise material!

TheraPutty® is the standard in resistive hand exercise material. With this material you can do a variety of hand exercises. You can squeeze the putty through your palm or manipulate it between your fingers. With this hand putty you can also do hand stretching exercises. Stretch the putty over your thumb to practice targeted thumb exercises.

With TheraPutty® you can progressively exercise because as your hands grow stronger you can use a firmer putty. TheraPutty® comes in 8 color-coded resistance levels. Each color-coded putty has a different firmness ranging from xx-soft for strengthening the weakest grasp to extra-firm for developing a stronger grip. As your hands grow stronger, you can move to a higher resistance putty but still do the same hand exercises you are accustomed to.

TheraPutty® is available in convenient and easy-to-open plastic containers. These containers are ideal for patients who may not have a strong grip. The 2, 3, 4- and 6-ounce containers are great for individual patients to use at home. The 1- and 5-pound containers are best for hospitals or clinics. TheraPutty® material is gluten, latex and casein free. Ask your Physical Therapist or hand specialist about using TheraPutty® if you’re in the mist of hand rehabilitation.
