Still stuck inside with no gym to go to? The gym is usually the ideal place to exercise because it provides the fitness equipment with less of the distraction that home brings. But what if you can’t go to the gym? Well it turns out that you can still workout from home. Below are some tips to get you started:
Warmup
Before any exercise, it is always a good idea to warmup. Warmups vary based on what exercise you are trying to work on but one good warmup in general is stretching. Stretching out your caves and quads as well as your arms and chest will help prevent sore and stiff muscles. Stretching also gets your blood flowing as you get ready to workout. One more warmup you might want to consider is doing a light cardio warmup. This includes going outside for a walk, lightly jogging in place at your home, or doing a slow-paced walk if you have a treadmill at home. This will set you up for the next part of this at home workout.
Aerobic Workout
For an aerobic workout, you can do what you were doing for your cardio warmup but at a faster pace. You could also do step aerobics with a jump rope for a couple of minutes if you have the equipment. The best aerobic workout of all which requires no equipment is a burpee. A burpee is a four-count movement exercise used in strength training and as an aerobic exercise. You begin in a standing position, then move to a squat position, kick your feet out to a plank position, and then follow that up with a squat position and then back to the stand-up position. Doing this or any of the above exercises mentioned will help get your heart rate up and get you active.
Strength Building
Building strength is something you can do in the same workout as your cardio workout, or it can be done on alternating days. Strength training is great for those who want to build muscle and even if you are not trying to be a bodybuilder it is still a good workout. Strength training can be done with or without fitness equipment. If you do have some small weights, bands or tubing you can workout with those tools to make yourself stronger. If you do not have any fitness equipment at home, you can simply use your body weight to strength train. Doing simple squats, push-ups or abdominal crunches will do the trick.
Working out from home is a great way to stay fit and active. You don’t have to go to the gym to stay fit because you can do strength training and aerobic workouts from home. Just be sure to warm up and then cool down with a light cardio exercise every time you decide to workout from home.
