Are you worried about the extra holiday calories you consumed this holiday season? Thankfully we got you covered with tips to get you in shape with no weights required! All you need is an AIREX® mat of your choice and small area of your home to workout in. Below we’ve listed some great exercises you can do to get back into shape after the holiday season:
Push-ups
The most common exercise you can do to get back into shape without weights is push-ups. We suggest you use an exercise mat for this activity. An AIREX® mat can help keep you in place and prevent you from slipping and falling while practicing this exercise. Push-ups help strengthen your chest, shoulders and arms all in one quick body movement. To begin, start with your chest and stomach flat on the AIREX® mat. Your legs should be straight out behind you and your palms should be at chest level with your arms bent out at a 45-degree angle. Next, push with your hands and heels, bringing your torso, chest, and thighs off the ground. Repeat this exercise 10 to 15 times for about 5 reps.
Planks
No, we are not talking about that cultural phenomenon where you lie down flat in weird places. Planks are a great exercise for your abdominal muscles as it requires you to engage your core for several seconds to minutes, so you feel the burn. AIREX® mats are great for planks because they are made of a high quality, comfortable material for you to rest your elbows. To begin, get into your push-up position, then rest forearms on ground with your elbows under shoulders. Your body should be in a straight line from your neck to your ankles. Hold for 30 seconds to a minute depending on the level of difficulty you want. Repeat this exercise for 3 reps.
Practicing both these exercises everyday will help get you back into shape and burn off any extra holiday calories you may have consumed. Each exercise is great for people with limited time, as they can both be done in less than 10 minutes. You can also use these exercises as a warmup to supplement your other workout activities. For both these exercises, we suggest using an AIREX® mat as it can add comfort and safety to your workout.
