Skillbuilders® wedge systems for adaptive positioning.
Adaptive positioning provides stability and support for those individuals lacking some degree of body control. It is a prerequisite for achieving greater gross and fine motor skills. Wedges perform equally well for both prone and supine activities. Choose the length and height of the wedge by considering what weight should be borne on the forearms and what extension the head, neck and trunk should elicit.
deluxe strap wedge - Without the removable straps, the deluxe wedge functions just like the standard Skillbuilders® wedge. The 5” wide velcro positioning straps provide support when positioning the child. Can be used with optional leg abductor wedge (5570, see below)..
adjustable wedge system - Orthopedically and neurologically involved children can freely move arms and hands while lying on this adjustable wedge. Both the front and rear legs can be adjusted to the proper height with single button locks. 22” wide x 36” long. Front legs adjust from 2-15” high, rear legs adjust from 2-7” high. Removable padded abductor adjusts from 4-8”. Side rail for carrying and securing positioning straps. Wedge folds flat for storage and transportation. Vinyl covered foam padded top for firm, yet comfortable support.
bi-height wedge - Position at a higher or lower height. High molded sides give lateral support. Positioning strap provides support. Accommodates abductor.
contour wedge system - 2 sided wedge: One smooth, one contoured with high molded sides for passive support ("nestles" patient into proper alignment). Smaller wedge "interlocks" with larger wedge. Straps provide support. 23x38x12" and 23x38x16" wedges and 5x5x4” abductor.
